Spring Cleaning the Capital – May 14
Saturday May 14 from 8 am to noon: Spring Cleaning the Capital event. The plan is for participants to meet at the Community Center at 8 a.m. to collect gloves/garbage bags and a map for an assigned clean-up area. Refreshments will be available. Students can earn Community Involvement Program volunteer hours! Contact Colin at colino435@gmail.com for more information.
FHCA Annual Meeting 2022
The FHCA annual meeting was held Thursday May 5, 2022. Thanks to all who attended. The board this upcoming year will consist of Karen Taylor, Mark D’Arcy, Sean Ovington, Colin Ovington, Adam Brown, Wendy Mayhew, Kelly Roper and Fred Gillard. At the meeting, a motion was passed for the FHCA to update its by-laws to comply with new provincial legislation for not-for-profit corporations.

Softball returns in Fitzroy for 2022!
May 3, 2022: Softball has returned in a big way to the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre.
Youth softball for kids 13 and under plays Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Info on the WC minor softball website.
West Carleton Electric, members of the Greater Ottawa Fastball League, play on some Tuesdays nights and the Thursday of Harbour Days. Schedule available at GOFL.ca.
Fitzroy Men’s fastball (also known as “Harbour Ball”!) is back with 7 teams, playing on Wednesday nights.
Fitzroy Ladies’ softball is back after two seasons off with 6 teams, playing on Thursday nights.

The Fitzroy Harbour Community Association has several events planned for 2022. Save the dates below on your calendar!

Thursday July 7 to Saturday July 9: The much anticipated return of the Harbour Days summer festival! Activites for young and old. A full schedule activities will be posted once confirmed.
Saturday August 27: A dinner and dance to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Fitzroy Harbour Community Centre. More info to follow, but save the date!
City of Ottawa to offer Yoga at FHCC
Fitness-Yoga. The combined focus on mindfulness, breathing and slow physical movements, practiced regularly, increases strength and flexibility as well as decreasing stress. Registration opens March 9th at 9pm online and March 10th in person

Memberships for 2022
FHCA Scholarship
The Fitzroy Harbour Community Association is pleased to announce our Scholarship winners for this year. Sam Hopper is studying at Algonquin College in Pembroke. Maddy Villeneuve is studying at Queen’s University in Kingston. Both of them will be awarded $500 to assist with their post-secondary studies.
New swing set at Baird Park and new play structure at the FHCC
The installation of the new swing set at Baird Park is completed and it is ready for use. This project was funded by the City of Ottawa. In addition the City also replaced the play structure at the Community Centre with a brand new unit which is open and ready to use.
